Box Elder Boot Dagger

The blade is mirrored 154CM , 8" hollow ground top and bottom. I did the heat treat and cryo. The top isn't sharpened but will be after I make the sheath. The scales are box eldor burl stabilized by WSSI. They have a liner and are dovetailed. The scales are carved a bit. Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions always welcomed..

that is a really beautiful, clean design Tracy. Congratulations on another beautiful knife. How did you accomplish the subtle carving?

Great looking knife Tracy. Is that carving I see on the Handle?

Thanks gents. I really like box elder burl but it's usually too white (or yellow) and shows dirt too easy. This time I decided to darken it with some oil/stain and colored Bri-Wax. It made the bird's eyes and swirls really pop.

Neetones: the carving was done with a combination of hand files initially, a little dremmel work and mainly, a lot of hand sanding. I tried a couple variations on each side and then settled on what you see there.

Very nice lines on that.

I like the way your offset false edge worked. It gives you a very good location for your mark, while allowing you to have a very small ricasso. I had been considering that for a rondel dagger that I'm working on the pattern weld for right now. I think this has decided me on that treatment.

The handle, and dovetailed bolsters work very well. I like the dark oil treatment on the box elder. The spacers give it just enough contrast to set the whole thing off.

The whole piece just works. I rather expect that one will fly off your table.
