My 2 blade trapper is done
After conferring with Bill Ruple, Don Morrow, and spending an afternoon with Rusty preston in his shop I've finally figured out how to make a multiple blade slipjoint.
Here's a picture of my 2 blade American pattern Trapper. I used a picture and dimensions from an advertisement to make a detailed CAD design and then used the design for paper patterns of all the parts. It works!! I'll make the design available on my Knifemakers Supply website soon. It takes a lot more than a pattern to make a multiple blade slipjoint right, though. If you haven't made a slipjoint before this isn't for the faint of heart! I want to thank Bill, Don, and Rusty for your help with this project. It's taken my self esteem a step forward. Great job Don!! I wish I could say that my first few turned out that nice. I'll have to get your pattern when it's available. Keep up the good work.
Wish we'd had more time to visit at the Hammer-In, but I usually only have enough time to meet myself coming as I'm going!! Look forward too seeing you soon. Johnny |

Thanks, Johnny. It's been a long time since I've had time to just build what I wanted to build. I'm right proud of myself for figuring this out.
Come on down!! and bring Katie. |
