Scagel Weekend Workshop

This past weekend some friends and I enjoyed a folder workshop lead by Fred Loving of Knoxville TN. All 6 participants were able to leave with a completed knife and I think a great time was had by all. I know I enjoyed it and feel like I learned a lot and got to spend time with some super people. I can't say enough about Fred, A natural teacher, he showed enormous patience working with 6 guys, who only one had ever worked with folding knives. All of us leaving with a knife that we were proud of, I believe, speaks to Fred's skills. He had some of the pieces pre-cut oversize by water-jet. I don't believe we could have made it otherwise. I don't think anything was lost by using pre-cut pieces. I don't have permission to post contact information, but he's a member of the gang that can be found around Bowie's sometimes. I would strongly recommend to anyone wanting to learn about this style of knife to find Fred and hire him for a weekend. I would also suggest class size be held at no more than six.
So here is my first Scagle/Loving folder in O1 and cocobolo. It still needs a little more finish and clean up.

Thanks All,
Yeah Robert, that's one of the things we learned. One of the guys has engraving skills and we were planing to initial the fixed part of the spring before heat treatment. We remembered almost exactly when the last one was finished ht.
