Ok..... I REALLY wanted to let you guys *hang* a little longer, but this is already out in another forum.

This baby is soon to arrive and is just beautiful as I had imagined. Neil and I have been talking over this piece for a few months (just before he stopped taking new orders), and I wanted a mix of 'old & new' Boy, did he do a great job!!

Ironwood burl handles with the Ninja shape, but with a med Hunter length. I wanted the holes in the blade, his wonderful filework and some combination of G10 and wood. Neil did the rest!

IT looks MAGNIFICO!!!

The usual top-quality stuff. Neil, *thank you* SOOOOOOOO much!

Nice score Coop! I like the way you get involved in these designs and really personalise your knives.

Neil's work has advanced steadily over the past two years or so since I first saw some of it. I haven't seen any first hand, just on the web, so I can't comment on the grinds or fit & finish but what I always see are good clean lines and balance.

Thanks ya'all!!

I really enjoyed making this one. I recieved 5 nice blocks of ironwood burl, all just as good as the next. It was tough choosing the best one. My milling machine is working very well for angles on the dovetailed bolsters. No more trying to match angles with my disk grinder rest!!!

All in all a fun project!

Re: Thanks ya'all!!

As promised....
We all hear these words: "These pics don't do this knife justice!" Well, I'm going to disprove that. This knife is as beautiful in hand as it appears on the screen. Neil and I had fun going over the variations on this, and after the dust settled in his shop, this is the final result. Long ago, I was smitten with his filework, and he didn't let me down at all. Look at the way he did that thinning swedge on the top edge. Nice.

What an outstanding pattern!!!

He tossed in the sheath as well. Such a guy!!

I'll take some 'show-quality' pics next week (We're going head-to-head with this same knife in the CKD photo contest in the future). In the meanwhile.....

Coop

Coop,

You've gone and done it. You just HAD to take detailed pictures didn't you?

Very impressive filework, and I love the profile of the handle as well! Neil knows very well that I'm a fan of his style. This proves it further.

Good choice Coop.

Chris
