and this joke is your pun-ismen.
Actually, I was wanting to ask Tai (and anyone else who uses 'em) about sens. I'm helping a fellow on some Japanese-style swords. He wants to do things traditionally for the most part, and wants to do stock removal with a sen and stones. He's read the Don Fogg website where it talks about the sen having a convex (or concave, it's one of the two) edge on it for strength. Tai, is your sen a flat grind? Do you have to sharpen it very often? The one I made was flat and right angles. seemed to work fine.
I made it to clean up. fullers. I made mine from an old leaf spring. hardened and tempred at 200 f. for an hour __________________ NT Barkin Turtle Tribe ~~~Life is what it is~~~ |

I've been toying around with one made out of an old planer blade. It's M2 steel and has right angle bevels at the edge. Cuts pretty well.
