Bolsters and Scales are Micro Embellished ? 3D Radial Fluting
Some Back Spacer Filework....Snowflake Pattern and a little anodizing and we're ready ta go!

There are words for a knife like this, although, as an English major in a past life, I'm having difficulty finding the right ones.

They're all in a class of adjectives called 'superlatives,' though.

Simply a joy to behold, with all my favorite colors and a wonderfully balanced shape.

I'd sure like to know more about the 'radial fluting' process, Larry, if you wouldn't mind sharing.

Wow! I REALLY like that fluting! I've gotta' learn how to do that some day (maybe I just need to learn the patience to do that some day hehe)

Thank you for the interest and enthusiastic responses to this piece....I gotta admit I really do like this one and will shed bitter tears when it leaves.

As to the fluting, as some of you know I have a CNC Milling Machine in my shop. I model up a design using modeling software, after which I import the design into CAM software, software that translates the design intent into tool program code which in turns drives my CNC Mill. It's not terribly complicated (I couldn't do it if it was). It just takes a little time to work out all the little steps involved. Usually I cut a few test pieces first and adjust the programing until I achieve the design intent or "sometimes" I get unexpected results that surpass what I was trying to cut.....I guess that's what I really love about the process I've chosen...I still get surprised and excited with the work.

That explains it. I've been racking my brain trying to figure a way to do it with a regular mill, or with some kind of jig and round files. Very intriguing process.

Easily done on a manual mill and prolly faster considering the pre- cut processes utilizing CNC...

Think rotary table Frank....center the spindle on the rotary table....zero you dials or Digital Readout if equiped....or mark you table location with two pieces of tape and a magic marker....anything just to remember your "Zero" reference.....mount a piece of G10 on your table....mount your material to the G10 (I've used Super Glue...screws, and a vacuum chuck..whatever works.....dial off center so when you rotate the rotary table you swing an offset arc...(this is the center or your radial pattern)....now mount up a ball mill 1/4" diameter is a good size and stout enough......establish the far right arc by rotating your part via rotary table....move the x or y axis and take a cut across the part......rotate the table 1-1/2 degrees and take another cut....repeat until you have swung the part to the opposite end....
If this is not as clear as mud, I will draw up a diagram that might better serve......

Immaculate work. At my stage of development i would feel better about melting down a hair comb to a sharp point and taking a picture of it than showing my blades amongst ones like that.
