Great Southern Knife Show
Guild members:
The Guild is sponsoring a couple of tables to represent our organization at the show. Our banner will be displayed and informational flyers will be available. We would like any member who like, to display one of their knives on the table. You do not have to have a table at the show to participate. Please include contact information and/or table location with the knife so that interested parties can get in touch with you. Knives will not be priced or sold from this table - display only. You will be responsible for retreiving your knife at the end of the show. A guild member will be manning the table during show hours. We could use some volunteers to swap out a few hours at a time. Please let me know if you can help out. Also the John Poythress Raffle Knife will be displayed on this table and tickets will be available. The drawing for this fine knife will be on Sunday afternoon prior to the closing of the show. George Hancox is organizing the Hospitality Room and could use some help there as well. Please step up and support your guild. Many hands makes light work. Help with clean-up on Sunday afternoon would be appreciated greatly. Thanks in advance, Carl Rechsteiner __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Thanks guys. Don't forget a knife for the display table.
Harry & Charlie - either of you know the approximate size of the Guild banner? __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Carl, the guild banner is 71 inches long and 36 inches wide. Is there any time on Friday to set up for the show? Harry is going to provide a coffee pot and a volt meter. Is there any info on the infamous outlet?

Thanks for the measurements. I'll see what I can work up. It'd sure help to know where the table will be located. I think that the building will be open between 5 and 8, but not sure. Might check with Jack Jackson to be sure. No statement in the show literature the sent me concerning this. The outlet hasn't moved. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Where is this knife show at? I remember a few people talking about a knife show at the Hammer-in. Is this anything like Blade? Is there any activites going on there? My wife is going to be out of town this weekend so it looks like I could go to it. Just need the info.

The show is at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta. Ga. Three exits north of I-285 on I-75 (Clay Rd exit). Go west on Clay about 2 miles and it's on the left. Not near as big as the Blade but it's all knives and supplies. Lot of the guys you met at Trackrock will be there. Not any demos that I am aware of (city fire dept. put the thumb down on a forging demo I had planned for last year). Brother Rick won't make it this time (durn it), but it's still a pretty good show. Hunt me up and show me some finished product. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Well I do not know if I will have any finished product to show you, but I am working on it. Time is always an issure here lately. I am planning on being there and by the way you mentioned before that you had some extra freon cans that you did not want. If you still have them I would like a couple. I have already sent an email to Ellis Knives on getting all the stuff for the inside of the forge. See what you started. See you Saturday.

Way to go Carl! Another innocent corrupted. It will be good to have a "heat and beater" in our neck of the woods. Wade, I hope you will stop by our table at the Show. We will have only a few knives, but both stock removal and a couple of forged ones. The show will be fun and a good chance to see what makers in Georgia are doing.

Charlie,
This is just to easy. Bladesmithing appeals to the natural boy in all of us. Goes against the grain of what our parents pounded into us. Don't play with fire, don't play with sharp things, Quit beating on that and be quiet! How can one not be drawn to the "forbidden"? Too much fun for just one guy so I have to draw others into the game. Just got to do it! __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |
