Wear your rubbers
Over the years I have tried many things to keep from burning my fingers while grinding.
Gloves work well but sometimes they get in the way. I was visiting Ed VanHoy's shop a couple of months ago and noticed he had some rubber finger tips laying next to a couple of blades he had been grinding. We were talking about something else at the time and I forgot to ask him how they worked for grinding. I went to the office supply store and purchased a couple different sizes and tried them out on a batch of knives that I just finished. These things work great, I was surprised how well they keep the heat away from your fingers. I used one on my forefinger and one on my thumb. Thought I would share this little tip, I hope someone will find it usefull. A thanks to Ed for the Idea.
