Tapping g10 backspacer??
What's going on guys, I'm new to knife making I've made some fixed blades but I really wanna make my first friction folder. If i use just g10 scales and g10 backspacer with no metal liners or nothing would I tap the g10 backspacer?

I agree with Don! Even though you CAN tap G10, it has almost an "elastic" quality to it when tapped. Generally in meta,l thread depth varies from 50-75%, depending on the tap used, but with the qualities of G10, you'll only get about 10% thread depth.....you can get a screw to thread into it, but just a bit of tightening will "strip" the threads in the G10.

ok that's what I was thinking just wasn't positive but I realized that I could use a pivot pin or two and that would work fine.

You can use pivot pins and screw into them from both sides, but I think it is easier to use one titanium liner. You can tap the one liner for screws from each side.

Hey just to let you guys know if your interested I ended up trying it out with 2-56 screws on both g10 and micarta and it held up amazing the threads stay strong And you can tighten it fully and un screw it as much as you want with out it affecting the threads, but that's just my observation with 2-56 thread not speaking on behalf of others and I've got a pocket clip screwed on to g10 for a week now and it seems like there strong threads.
