Something new for a change.
I've started two new slipjoints. I hope they'll turn out to be small single blade trappers.
I'll post a few photos as I progress. We surely need some action on this forum. I figured the lack of action was due to the holidays, but we still seem to be asleep. So, let's see what y'all are up to. I'll do my part. |

I need a new pocket knife. The one I carried since I made it disappeared yesterday. Must have fallen out of my pocket somewhere. Probably while driving a rent car while my car was in the shop.
And ain't this a coincidence.... Somebody stole an old framelock I made years ago for myself off my work bench within the last few days. I can't help turning my back and leaving the room once in awhile when somebody is there. |

Don, don't tell me it was the titanium wharnie that you showed me way back in the day... I really liked that one. Thats why I chose that style for the one you helped me build. SOme people...

Yah, Frank, that's the one. It was one of the first I made from my wharncliff framelock design.

Sad, Don, sad.
You want to give someone a bit of your enthusiasm, and they steal from you. Frank. __________________ Without collectors there would not be makers. |

Frank, I doubt that whoever it was is a knifemaker. I have a tool grinding business and it was probably a customer.

Sleeping.........who's been sleeping? Ha. I'm back to work at the mine, so my knives will be a little slower coming. Funny thing, I just started on a gents warncliff. Sorry to hear about your 'loss' of a couple of knives.

I may get a chance to take a picture of what I've been working on today. After I get a haircut.

Sorry, I've been procrastinating. When I'm working on something I hate to stop and take pictures.
These two slipjoints were just finished a couple of days ago. The red one is now my pocket knife. 154 CM blade , 410 liners, 416 bolsters are spot welded. The second one has a 154CM blade, stag scales, same liners and bolsters. I sure hope my new pocket knife isn't lost or stolen like the last two. |

I forgot to mention that both of these knives have a machine finish.
I did this as an experiment just to see what I could do. They have no hand sanding or buffing anywhere. The blade and handle are finished with a 400 grit belt on my Square Wheel grinder. I went around the blade spine and the handle spine with a deburring wheel mounted on a stand grinder. No tedious hand rubbing on the blades. They don't shine, but I like the machine finish. I'll do this again. |
