Plain and simple framelock

I usually make two blades at once, and sometimes I put the second blade away to finish another time.

This is one of those blades. I made this blade years ago before I got so interested in small pocket knives.

The 440C blade is about 3 3/4" long, hardened and cryo'd to 59Rc.

5" long closed.

All titanium and stainless steel.

A big old plain user, it weighs only 3.5 ounces.

Thanks, guys.

Frank, the gold anodizing is what the anodizer wanted to do. I didn't have much to do with it except pull the switch.

It grew on me, though. I like it. Anybody who would carry that big a knife wouldn't be shy about the color.

Thanks for the compliments. When I discovered that blade I decided it was too big to make a reasonable folder, but it grew on me.

Now what do I do? I've probably got a half dozen more old blades roughed out like this one and put away.

Do I work on them, or make some more pocket knives?

Call me crazy, but I personally like a large pocket knife, and maybe even prefer it. Some of my favorite daily users are very similar in size, if not a little larger. I was actually thinking the other day about how difficult it is to find a good quality folding knife with a 4" blade or larger. Not that I'm saying it's more "practical" than a 2 to 3.5 inch blade for your average daily chores, but sometimes you just need something with a little bit more leverage and cutting edge.

I say finish them!
