stabilized briar burl - WOW

I am in the process of finishing off a knife and used some of the stabilized briar burl that I had stabilized at WSSI. Man did they do a nice job. This stuff is incredible. Here take a look at this handle. Better than a lot of the ironwood.

Let me know what you think.
Steve

Steve, That is as beautieful as the snake wood I found and its the best grade I've seen.

I need enough of that for a folder. Would you trade for some Ti or carbon fiber or both.

I have all thickness up to .250

Beautiful, Steve. Briar is one of my favorite woods to work with. I haven't used stabilized briar, just natural. It cuts cleanly and sands very smoothly, and the grain can be awesome. Be sure to post pictures of the finished knife.

David

A trade sounds good. Do you want a block or do you need slabs? email me your address and I can get some out to you next week.

It is great to work with. I had this burl sitting around my shop for a couple of years and finally figured I would cut it up and send it down to WSSI. I am extremely happy with both their service and their process.

Thanks
Steve

Beautiful wood, my wife is a wood carver and will show the burl to her, she is always interested in wood.

Steve, what is WSSI.

Thanks for sharing.

WSSI - wood stabilizing specialists international
They are out of IA, where ever IA is. They stabilize and sell a lot of burl woods but they also will stabilize wood that you send them. Thats what I did with this briar burl. Great folk to work with and as you can see they do a really good job very reasonably. Check out thier website stabilizedwood.com

Wow is right Steve. Much nicer than you described on the phone. Save a couple blocks for me and I'll settle up when I see you next. Paul savage
