How do you transport your knives?

I am looking for a better way to transport my knives. Currently I have an aluminum briefcase with one large piece of foam rubber in it. I have cut slits down the face and slip the knives into the slits. I can get about 15 knives in there (Fixed blades). I was wondering how others carry their knives to protect them when travelling to and from shows. I also carry several in my truck for showing when people ask about them and use the same setup for carrying them.

Please let me know if you have a better method.

knife transport

I use a three tiered *Doskosil hard case. I believe it was designed to transport camera equipment.
I've had mine for a lot of years, and it's survived everything the airlines or I could throw at it. I saw one recently in a sporting goods store (along witht he gun cases), priced at $89.

Re: knife transport

Each of my knives is packed in a padded zipper pouch. For local shows, the pouches go into a Zero Halliburton aluminum case with foam padding in it. For shows requiring air travel, the aluminum case goes inside a much larger wheeled suitcase that also carries my clothes and other needs, and I carry a briefcase with all my other show essential in it.

Make sure your insurance is up to date if you are flying, and don't put any indication of the contents on your luggage.
