gold inlayed damascus bolster

Fresh off of the bench. this is a gold inlayed damacus bolster which i have cold blued. Jim you said that you cant get a hi gloss finish with cold bluing . I use it all the time on knives . and i get a mirror finish .. What i do is i first bring the metal up to a mirror finish , then i clean it real good with soap. dry it off and then place your work in a plastic tray and then pour the bluing over the metal . let it soak for a couple of min. then take it out and dry it off and then polish it with 4 ott steel wool .. i hope everybody likes it..

Hi Ron,
Great looking engraving on the bolster. I see what you have been telling me about the cross cuts. Like the cold blueing also.

Thanks

Van Gordens cold blue, is the only one that doesn't have that nasty cold blue smell. I did a complete .22 rifle with that stuff a few years ago, and it still looks fine.

Ron,

That is really nice! I love blued engraving. The gold inlay really set off the design.

Looks great Ron!

Like Darren said...post the finished knife when you can.

Vans blue has been around for a long time. It works just as he claims.
