NEW :: Kydex Rivet Flaring Tools

Have you ever noticed that most of the suppliers don't handle a decent Kydex rivet flaring tool? Most of the one's they offer only work with the smallest rivets 6-8 or (3/16) and they all split the back of the rivet when they set it ... and mess up the paint or finish on the rivet, which looks like s---. There are some commercially available setters that do it the right way, roll the backside of the rivet and minimize scratches, but these can run as much as $400 dollars for the system.

We were asked by a couple of our suppliers to develop a Kydex Rivet Flaring die system that would properly flare the rivet, not requiring a press (for those makers who wanted to make their own arbor press type assembly), but available with a complete professional pressing system that could be made available for under $100 dollars (for those that wanted the complete pressing tool and die setup). Needless to say, we developed it and now have it ... it is a reality and it works like a charm ... for both size kydex rivets being sold 1/4 and 3/16's!

If you're into "high quality" kydex sheath work, this system will ensure that you never split or scratch another rivet again, painted or otherwise!

If you like how the rivets are flared in this image, out press/die system are how they were done.

These will be available through most of the supply companies shortly, or you can find more information about them now on our site http://www.knifekits.com .

Hope this helps someone make better looking Kydex sheaths!

Alex

Talking Kydex rivet tool

Thanks. I just bought the bundle. I've been looking for a better tool and this looks like it will do the trick.

Alex-

I am very interested in this set-up. Could you post of pic of the press that is included with the $99 kit?

What 'brand' rivets are you using to get the results posted?

What is the turn around time on these or are they ready to ship?

Keith,

We still have to film the press, but I will get those images up as soon as possible. They are ready to ship now.

We prefer to use black coated rivets, but you can use the unfinished brass types or the one's that are dipped in solution to give them that "blued" effect. The one's we sell are the most expensive type, at $8 - $10 per hundred, depending on the size, but these are the one's that you see on most of the best Kydex sheaths being made. They have a high finish quality.

Alex-

Ok, this maybe a very dumb question, but I figured I would ask so as to know for sure. How long are the eyelets that you are selling associated with this press and can it be used reliably with eyelets from other sources? What is the thickest material they will be able to be set in?

ie: if I am using .093 concealex two layers is .186....will those be long enough?

Nosmark!
Yes ! The 8-8 will work with the .093.
There is enough room!
We use a standard brass rivet. One difference is that we have ours epoxy COATED. The wipe on brass black just does not appeal to us. It comes off to easy.

We thought about a foot operated press.
The problem is is would cost 400.00.

The hand operated is 99.00 WITH the dies.
Just trying to keep cost under control.

At Elite Tactical we have been using this system for two years.
Works great and its still working great

Done!
The cylinder can be had on ebay for very low cost.
The problem if we do this is the osha concerns, guarding etc.
But Good old American ingenuity can make it happen for those who want to do there own.
I do feel that 99.00 for the dies and base hand machine is a great buy!

I know I searched for JUST the dies for a month when we set up elite.
Best price for both sets of dies was 100.00 or so. When we got the dies they only lasted 20,000 rivets and needed replaced .

Please enjoy! Please post your cool ideas after its complete!
