Hang in there Ed. Your original report had mention of an elevated lipase test of some sort or another. Maybe they can also get the info back to the folks at Mayo and get more heads working on a solution.
Take care, Craig |

I don't like hearing some of that, but on the other hand, I sure want them to get you well and I know you want that, too. Will be keeping you in prayer-be safe and take care of yourself, Ed. Will keep looking forward to the news that you're feeling back to "you".

Well, today is the day that I start treatments. Gotta be at the Oncolgist's at 8:30am, and from what I understand, will likely be there most of the day. Keep me in prayer that whatever stuff they pump into me kicks this thing in the butt, and doesn't kill me in the process!
So much for working in the shop today.....but I'm gona take my laptop along and try to get some more work done on my website......trying to get it all moderized and updated. __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

Another false alarm! Got to the Oncolgist's office, they did bloodwork, and got me setup for the infusion.....then, because my lipase was so high, they decided to wait until Wed for the first treatment. I go tomorrow morning for another CT scan, and then back to the Oncologist on Wed. Oh well, at least we had a practice run, and I can work on knives the rest of today!

Thanks for reminding me Dana!
After the month of treatments during August, I had another chest CT two weeks ago (late Sept), and then saw the Oncologist the next day. He said that since the treatments, the "nodules" on my lungs had either stayed the same, or in some cases even shrank! Since the drugs seemed to help, I am now on a schedule of having a treatment every 21 days for the rest of this year. Then, in January, another CT to see where we stand. The other issue I've been having (my guts hurting all the time) seems to be more elusive....even though the Docs at the Mayo said Panceratitis, the local Docs seem to keep ignoring that, and keep "testing me".....I go in for an abdomenal MRI next Thrusday, then they are sending me off to the single Doctor in the state of Montana that does a procedure called ERCP (luckily its in Kalispel, near Steve's place)......I found this explaination of YouTube (gosh, EVERYTHING is on youtube!) I've had so many tubes shoved down my throat over the past year that I can only hope this is the one that uncovers what's goin on.....as I keep telling the Docs....I just wanna feel good again......and be "myself" again! __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES." |

I hope they can figure this out. I do not understand why the locals are ignoring the Mayo Clinic though. Best of luck Ed. Prayers sent.

Hang in there Ed... I went through cancer treatment about four years ago and it's less than zero fun. It's just about the scariest thing ever. Just remember, keep a sense of humor and every time you get down, you'll see someone that is worse off than you. This will put your experience into some sort of perspective. I feel for you and wish you the best. You and yours will be in my prayers. If you need encouragement from a survivor, drop me a line...
