New Fighter

Hey Folks,

It's been a while since I've posted any knives on here and I just finished one up that I'm proud of, so I thought I'd throw it up here. This is a fighter that I designed a few months back and it is getting sent overseas with a buddy of mine this February. Here are the specs:

Blasted D2 Steel
Blasted G10 Scales w/ Brass Tubing.
Hollow Ground on 14" Wheel
3/16" Thick
10.25" OAL
6" Blade

The sheath is leather and it's the first leather sheath I've done. This is the third blade I've ground in D2 and probably the last time I'll choose to use it, unless I get a bunch free or a request. I don't care for the steel. My logo etched crisp quite deeply, but I have a heck of a time getting air hardening steels to mark. What little black I did get came right out with flitz.

In the future I'll probably make these out of 1080 and 440C. The first itteration of this piece was made of 1080 and I snapped it trying to correct a bad bend after heat treatment. I made the blade in D2 simply to spite that bar of 1080

Nice knife, Cap! It's spare and functional, so it stands unshielded with glitz and comes off very well. The lines are smooth and sleek, and the handle shape/size well suited to the blade. Looks like it suits the hand very well and will land the point in a good place when gripped. The front of the scales are well placed. The pin placement is excellent. Nice grind, and a nicely done point.

Very nice! Nanc just gave it a big thumbs up, too!

Thanks for all of the comments guys, I appreciate it. The purpose of this one was to be simple and straighforward. I don't figure folks need much more than that in a fighter anyways.

Hey Cap,

Looking at this knife again, the thought occured to me that in some ways it could be considered a modern interpretation of a rifleman's knife of 200 years ago.

Thanks again guys, I'm looking forward to getting reports on how it's holding up for him. It was originally planned to be my belt knife, so I'd have done it in a more forgiving steel if I were starting from scratch.

Thanks for the new perspective Nathan, I had nothing more than "practical belt knife" in mind when I drew this up, so it's nice to think that it came out like another knife that fits that bill well.
