Yes i do have some photos of jacks knives I have done some engraving work for Jack his knives are a beautiful work of art he is a sculptures in steel . also they are a difficult knife to engrave I would like to see what Ray and Jacson would do with one of his knives I dont have the mind for this kind of design my mind thinks colt all the time ..
The difficulty comes only in the design of the knife ..it is hard to explain until you work on one of them .. __________________ ron p. nott |

I have had the priviledge of becoming friends with Jack, and even visited his home and workshop. You simply wouldn't believe how he creates these works of art out of a nondescript dark two car garage in Brooklyn.
I own this one, and it was one of my earliest photo compilations. (It's a MESS!) But you get the idea. As Ron referred to, Chris Meyer did the engraving on this one. http://www.fototime.com/8385005AFC827B1/orig.jpg Going further, I have a VERY rare fixed blade Jack made. It still has his 'look'... http://www.fototime.com/10D6A9BB4F7D867/orig.jpg Lastly, Ron Nott did a wonderful job with some deep-relief engraving and a pictorial on this one: http://www.fototime.com/A5AF50BBBDC9A37/orig.jpg http://www.fototime.com/97A83506FF417CE/orig.jpg Lastly here is one he did that starts to look more like his current work: http://www.fototime.com/318188D3BA8E48D/orig.jpg The photos are all quite lousy comparatively, but...whatever. He's a character and truly an artist along with being a fine craftsman. I like him! Coop |

Jack Levine knives
Thanks guys, I had the privilege of setting up a couple of tables down from Jack a Guild show a few years ago. Had several conversations with him through the weekend and it was a joy. I love his work, I'm wanting to get into making some auto's myself one of these days. Thanks for the pictures of his work, maybe some more will show up on this post. Talk to yall later, Dwayne
