Howdy Ladybug-
I asked about this back when I wasn't so busy but since then I have gotten swamped with orders and just haven't had any extra time.

I'll be glad to try and answer any specific questions anyone has and I know that Sandy would too.

Hopefully we'll get into this more a bit later - but it would help if somebody started the ball rolling with some specifics.

Question Time to bring this to the top---BTTTT----

It has been a while since this was at the top and I think is still worth while. If any of you have any specifics on the gear you are interested in, please make your wants known. Some of us might have the info you need, or know where to get it.

Has anyone made a lined-zippered case? I purchase them for shipping knives when the customer has made other arrangements to have a sheath made.

A.T. - thanks for the number but I was thinking more along the lines of making some. "The Art of Making Leather Cases" by A.S vol#1 doesn't cover any zippered cases and I don't recall seeing any in "The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal" lately. Does anyone have pictures or a tutorial on lamb's wool or other linings, zippers? Lined zippered pistol cases?

Get volumes 2 & 3 of Al's case making books - I think it's number 2 that goes into sheepskin linings and zippers - don't have them on hand so can't say for sure.

Also you can contact the "Journal" and they can tell you if any back issues have zippered/lined case patterns

Heck it can be of leather or kydex....

Best thing - start a whole new post rather than add to this one.

Yea !

Chuck,

I think that it might be cool to discuss/teach techniques that would be applicable to sheathmaking via demonstration in other objects. IE, tooling, lacing, dying techniques, beading, etc. apply to belts, sheaths, wallets, etc. I wouldn't mind seeing how to craft incidentals bags and other mountainman accoutrements and so on.
