2016 Bladesmithing/Knifemaking Classes
2016 Bladesmithing/Knifemaking Classes!
As many of you know, I offer Bladesmithing/Knifemaking classes. These classes range from basic beginner classes, all the way through Mosaic Damascus, and Folder classes.
As a general rule, I only teach "One-on-One" classes. This allows me to focus all my attention and efforts to a single individual...and give the very best I can give.
If you're considering a Bladesmithing/Knifemaking course in 2016, please contact me as soon as possible, because dates tend to fill up quickly.
For all the details, you can visit my website "Classes" page: http://www.caffreyknives.net/classes.html (be sure to read the NOTES section.
Something that has come up recently.... several people have contacted me and asked to take classes "back to back". I WILL ONLY CONSIDER BACK TO BACK CLASSES ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. For example, I recently received a request from an individual with zero knifemaking experience, who wanted to do the Basic Bladesmithing, Damascus, and Folder classes all back to back. ABSOLUTELY NO!
In the case of a beginner, it would be irresponsible of me to take them through a Damascus and/or Folder class. A Damascus class requires a general knowledge of forging blades, and a folder class requires a decent knowledge of building straight knives in order for an individual to successfully navigate the courses.
As a general rule, in order for me to agree to a Damascus or Folder class, an individual should have at least 6 months experience in knifemaking. Knifemaking/Bladesmithing takes time and practice. I have helped a number of individuals achieve their Journeyman and Mastersmith ratings, and each of those had a minimum of 6 months between the Basic and successive classes.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
