Question on the new JS testing requirements...

Hi Ed. I had a question about the new JS testing requirements. The part that was recently added that reads..........

"All of the knives submitted must have guards and/or bolsters."

I was wondering what they are looking for here. Specifically.......are they needing an actual guard that has a single or double quillion? Or are they just looking for the seemless fit up of guard to ricasso shoulders?

Would a 'guardless' knife be allowed is what I'm wondering. Or do they have to have a 'lug' or quillion.

Something like this is what I was wondering about:

John, I personally would consider that bolsters. I think they are looking for the fit-up. I would recommend sending this question to the board of directors for clarification.

John, I believe where the issue came up was a full tang knife with just 2 slabs and no bolsters / guard. I think the knife you just posted is good for one of your five. As Chuck stated send a pic to the board for clarification.

By the way nice hunter
