First friction folder finished

Hi guys

So i finished my first friction folder.
If you wouldn't mind, I would like to hear your thoughts about it, so I can improve :-)

Blade and back spacer is o2 steel.
Brass liners and brass pins.
Black canvas reinforced epoxy scales.

Some of my knows issues that i need to improve on is:
Correct assembly of scales and liners.
There is a bit og side ot side play in the blade.
The centering if off due to only having 0.03" fiber washers that i needed to sand down to fit,
I scratched the blade during sharpening and assembly....

I'm pretty pleased with the design. The handle shape fits my hand really well.

Here are some of the images:

Looks really good! as far as the issue with the washers....try and get some bronze ones...when I did a couple liner locks before I started using bearings I noticed a difference in fiber or nylon to the bronze the bronze wont deform over time as the other ones can. As far as the scratching of the blade I use blue painters tape and cover the blade while sharpening and stuff like that to make sure I don't scratch up the blade...other than that looks really well done.

Thanks dtec. Im going to buy some phosphor bronze for the next folder. I think i will try to convert this design to a lockback.

The scratche are so stupid... Its so easy to protection the blade before doing the sharpening..

Hey man mistakes are mistakes you will make many of them I cant even count how many mistakes I made from either being in a rush or being lazy.... your better off slowing down because if you make a 2 second mistake because you were in a rush now that 2 second mistake can take a half hour to fix now your even more of a rush...slow down it took me a very long time to learn that lesson and still slip..

What is the finish on the blade, gun blue? The knife looks really good and aesthetically pleasing to the eye with the brass liners and pins.

Thanks :-) I finished the blade to 800 grit and rubbed it with 000 steel wool.
Then i etched the blade in ferric chloride 3 x 15 minutes. Between each etch i rubbed the blade lightly with an abrasive paste, don't know the name of it.

I like it! We all learn from the last one we made, at least hopefully we don't make the same mistake twice!!

If I capture those three factors in each knife I build, I am assured the knife will become a piece that is used and treasured by its owner!
