Too quiet
Sure gets quiet when Ed's gone. Anybody know some good jokes ? I got my high temp thermometer yesterday and my stainless steel tube welded up. Now I need to get some high temp salts and my salt bath will be ready. |

Dennis, May I ask what you had to pay for your thermometer and where you got it? I've been looking around at them, the price really varies. Is it a portable and what kind of thermocoupler (think thats what it's called) does it have. Jon |

Yea it is quiet when Ed is gone and I too am interested in the thermocoupler and valve to control the forge. Any help would be appreciated. Is the press done Jon? |

Finished the press and am working on dies. Had to clean the smithy before doing anything though. It's amazing how cluttered (read disaster) things get when your working on a large project like that. Jon |

thermometer
Sorry to take so long to reply. I got the set-up from MSC supply. It is a hand held unit made by Hanna, model HI9043 with the recommended K-type thermocouple. Be sure to get the probe for liquid, Hanna number HI766E2. Thanks to Michael Vagnino for this set-up. |

Re: thermometer
The price with shipping was less than $150. No valves for this one, just manually shut down the gas at 1500 degrees. |

re
My neighbor rigged up a thermo. with a $20.oo haarbor freight multi meter and a type K thermcouple from MSC he has the thermo wire run through the center of a piece of 1/4" sq. tubing which in turn was welded to a little holder that the multi meter was zip tied to. Two rednecks were hunting in the woods, one of them fell to the ground, his eyes rolled up in his head and he stopped breathing. His buddy called 911, near panic he told the operator that he thought his buddy was dead. She told him to calm down, the first thing you need to do is make sure he is dead. The operator heard a silence, then a gunshot. The redneck got back on the phone and said, OK, NOW WHAT? |
