I think Eli uses Satanite. Most guys use either Satanite or ordinary furnace cement like you can buy at any hardware store in any area that can be expected to have wood stoves (Northern California, South Dakota, Anchorage, Wauconda).....

This is about what your grain structure should look like in a properly heat treated 1084 blade. Note the very fine grain and even color....
