It has been awhile since I have been around, but I still like to play around with making knives. But today I have a question for some of you. In a few weeks my wife and I will be taking our Granddaughter to Europe, we land in London then to France to be at Normandy Beach for the 75th anniversary of D-Day, then on to Bastogne and Germany. My Granddaughter will get college credit for the trip. But my question for any of you who may have traveled overseas is what about knife carry. I know you can’t have one on the flight but what about when you get to London, France, Belgium or Germany are you even allowed to carry one in your pocket. I have been carrying a knife all my life and feel naked with out one. Thought maybe someone here would have that answer. Thanks all for any help or guidance.

I can't answer for the other countries but from what I understand in England you might want to leave your pocket knife at home or risk having it confiscated at the airport.

I live in Denmark, and i can only say, that its not a good idea to carry a knife in public.
I know that the legislation in England is a bit tougher than i Denmark.

If its a short blade 3" or less you can carry it if it doesn't lock. But you still could get in to troublem
In Denmark we have areas with zero tolerance for any weapons, and you could get arrested carrying a tooth pick here.

I'm not sure about Germany.

its been a while, but when i was stationed in germany pocket knives were not a problem. there are are cutlery stores where you can pick one up.
in france.... find a LaGuiole outlet and pick out a nice one. just make sure its in your checked luggage on your way back.

i dont know where in germany you are going, but if you are anywhere near kreuzberg monastary, i HIGHLY recommend a visit. the views and food there is great, but the beer is a gift from god! which i guess is why its made in a monastary.
