Ironwood and cable damascus

This is one I started waaaay back at one of my hammer-ins. I finally got around to finishing out the handle today.

Blade was made from really high carbon steel alloy cable. I've been pretty impressed with the edge-holding on this one. It etches out a pretty dark color. This has been rubbed with 5000 grit polishing paper to make the pattern pop a bit.

Handle is a very dark, but highly figured pattern set of ironwood scales with nickle pins. Sanded down to 400 grit, then buffed to a glass-like surface with white rouge.

I think this is my favorite modern knife I've ever made as far as overall look and feel in the hand.

Nice looking knife, Ireally like the look of the handle with multi pins.
The dark color of the blade and ironwood goes great together.
I'm always amazed to see your work!!!

Now, If I could just make a sheath to match!

My Fall goal is to learn a little better leather sheathmaking skills! Of course, it'll be another 8 months or so before I finish another knife on the fast-track plan.
