For several years my some of my regular customers have been after me to hold a hammer-in here in Branson, Mo. While at the Oklahoma Knife Show we held a meeting to set the best time for most to attend. It will be held at The Shepherd of the Hills Farm (where I've had my shop for the last 6 years) on June 27 & 28 (Sat & Sun), 2009.
The demo area will be held in an open air pole barn type building with three forges going (one coal & two gas) where we will demo all steps of knife making from blade smithing to finished knife throughout the weekend. Currently a number of the top makers from Mo., Ar., Il., & Ok. have committed to demonstrating with the list continuing to grow. The knife show will be held in the adjacent building (The Sons of the Pioneers Theatre). It is my intent to familiarize the public with what goes into the building a custom knife as well as to be able to walk next door to view/purchase the finished product from top makers.
My sole intent for this event is to promote custom knife making and being in Branson, Mo. we should draw a very diverse crowd of people which probably wouldn't otherwise be exposed to the world of custom knives.
