stabilized wood
What is it, like dymondwood?
If I use oak, would I stabilize it and how? I swear I will stop asking so many questions as soon as I put together these two kits for Christmas presents!! |

Ellie,
Stabilized wood is regualr wood that has been completely impregnated with resins. Kinda like forcing epoxy through the wood and letting it set up. It works pretty much like regular wood. Oak has been used for knife kandles for many, many years without being stabilized. You would not be able to stabilize wood at home without some specialized tools that are not common in most people's shops. Don't worry about the questions. It is fun to use to see you progress and we like to assist. Keep the questions coming and post a picture of your achievement when you are done. |
