Spacer Bleed
Is it normal for spacer material color to bleed onto the knife handle as you are polishing? I have been working on an Oregan Skinner with white handles and blue spacers. The white handles started showing a blue tint as did the buffing wheel.

Are you using vulcanized spacer material. If so, I can't imagine it bleeding unless maybe your'e getting it way too hot.

That's entirely possible. I can't afford a real buffer right now so I am using a converted grinder that runs at 3000+ as well as a mandrel and small sewn wheels on a drill. I try and run it pretty slowly but every now and then I slip and it revs up pretty quick. Plus it is really white handle material so any little thing shows up really well.
