Sheath # 3 WIP

One of my larger knives had no sheath, so i set out to remedy that tonight. Different style than my last 2 and this time with some basic tooling. So Here it is so far.

needs stitching and snap etc

Turned out well. I like doing the big long sheaths, something classic about them.
Noticed that your edge/trim stamping on the right side is not as clean and straight as the left. Are you turning the piece around so that you are tooling from the same side as the right with the same lighting,
or just get tired and hurried to finish?
Either of these are a nemesis to tooling consistently. Done it wrong enough times to know. You make beautiful knives so take the "extra" time on the sheath and get a balanced "whole package".

Also, not shown in pics, did you cover the base of the snap inside the sheath? Hope you did as it can leave a very ugly scratch right down the middle of the blade. Used to think that if countersunk it just a bit it would clear and this is true for a new sheath. However, after a little use the leather "loosens" and can move in the wrong direction just enough create the scratching situation. Or if the owner happens to pinch the sheath just right on extraction/insertion the same can occur.

>>I read a lot<<
