Good question, Nico.
I don't know... The ideas I've had to date are: Drill ends and cut out the middle. Mill using an X-Y table. Make a suitable punch up and use it in the arbor press. Yet to get around to doing any of those, however! Peter |

Making long holes (slots) ain`t easy, but it ain`t impossible either.
Mold the sheath as you would for anything else, but be sure to leave enough margin so that you won`t have a weak point after the slot is cut (about 3/8in. on center works for me) Drill a hole where you want the ends of the slot to be. Chuck an "end-mill" bit in your drill-press. Lower the mill-bit into the first hole and push to the second hole. You will need a "back-board", or "stop" clamped to your drill-press to keep your work straight. Like I said, this ain`t easy, but with a little work you can make slots any size and location you want. Go slow and be prepared to use some scrap material to learn on. __________________ Cheers! Frank Edge Guard Sheaths |
