Nephew on Time Magazine cover
I posted this over on Blade forums and throught there might be a few here that would find this really cool.
I received a phone call yesterday morning from a St.Louis Post reporter, he was wanting info on Sgt. Ronald Buxton, my nephew. Well the first thing that came to mind was something had happened to him. He's stationed in Baghdad. I asked why, and he said to my surprise that Ron and 2 other military personnel were going to be on the cover of Time Magazine. Well that started the phone ringing and its been ringing ever sence. I just want to say that the entire Buxton family is extremely proud of all our men and women serving in the armed forces, where ever that may be. And we are overwhelmed that Ronald was one of the three chosen to represent them. May God Bless and Keep Safe all our Troops Bill www.buxtonknives.com |

Very cool, and well deserved. Too bad all the wonderful men and women in uniform can't be on the cover of TIME. I heard today that TIME magazine's "Man of the year" was simply "The U. S. Soldier". Well deserved. They have served with distinction, and I must say that I am proud of each and every one of them. I know that y'all (southern form of "you all" or "youse guys" for you Yankees ) are proud as well.

Thats Great, Bill.... Being in a war zone at Christmas ain't the best place to be. Been there, done that. Think they should all come home, forget about war and have some Peace on earth for a change.....

It is a great thing that he was chosen to represent the US Soldier with the other two. Be proud, Bill.
Yes, it is sad that they can't all be home for Christmas. War is Hell. My prayer is that they come home safe to their families and loved ones, however long that may be. |

Congrats Bill! I can't wait for my copy to show off.
I'm with Ray in sentiment, but I recognize the duty and service the 'little guys' have done for us. You should be proud! Coop |

Bill, I'll have to go buy a copy of it. The only time I see "Time" is at the doctor or dentist office. Not sure if I've ever seen a new one.....

I got it today. This is the VERY special 'Man of the Year' issue, and Ronald along with the two others on the cover are representing Time's choice for this honor: The American Soldier.
I read a short paragraph about Ronald inside: apparently he is a voracious learner, and is mastering the Iraqui language in a short time. He is also the resident computer 'tech-head'. Good on ya! Coop |

I just saw the cover on the news. Good picture of the guys. Good to have them honored as representatives of our entire military.
Proud? I would be. Congratulations. |

Very Very Proud we are of him and all our fine men and women, its a very dangerous place in Iraq as it is in other locations that our brave men and women are staioned. We wish and pray for peace though out the world so all these brave soliders can be home for next Christmas.
We bought a couple copies of Time yesterday, and we had no idea where in Iraq or what Ron's duties were. After reading the article on him its really scary and truly does bring home what all are brave and courageous men and women are facing every day. Its easier to not worry, when we really don't know what their up against day in and day out. But hopefully this magazine will help us all to understand and appreciate more, all the sacrifices and hardships our armed forces have to endure to keep us safe here at home. And that those that can only criticize what they're doing, will stop and realize they're making this a better world for them also. God Bless Our Troops and Merry Christmas Bill www.buxtonknives.com |

Yep, glad to see that Time finally got it right.
Our folks over there need and deserve all the support we can give. Awoke to an email from my son-in-law this morning from beautiful downtown Baghdad. Made my day, it did. __________________ If it isn't sharp it's only a screwdriver. ------------- Birdog Forge, com |

birdog, your absolutely right. I'm glad you received the e-mail and all is good, if you send him one back tell him if he would happen across Sgt. Ron Buxton, that his aunt pud and uncle Bill are thinking of him and wish him a Merry Christmas. I'm going to talk with his father later today, so hopefully we can get a e-mail address. God Bless you and yours.
