Question How do you do this wrap?

I was just curious if anyone had an idea or tutorial of how to do a wrap like this. It should be the first pic on the page of a Don Fogg Shiv.

I find it hard to explain wraps. If you can get what I mean here it goes - when twisting the wrap, as you go round the handle, there are 2 ways you can do it.

You can twist the tape OVER itself first and then twist again, or twist the tape UNDER itself and twist again. These produce different looks in the way each crisscrossing "diamond" is laid out.

I think the wrap shown is the twist-Over-itself-and-then-twist-again method.

If I have time, I'll try to get some pics together but that won't be for awhile. The best way to achieve it is to use some LIGHT coloured nylon flat shoelace and start wrapping up a length of wood and experimenting with the technique. There are million different ways to do these wraps. Jason.

Don Fogg probably tells how to do it on his site. If you cannot find it there, go to his forum and ask him directly.

Fogg

Please come back and tell us what you find. Thanks, Roc

It is what Jason said, The twist over itself.
The traditional way as described by TL Buck is "twist under itself".

Just experiment a bit with wide flat shoelace and a piece of wood.
That's the easiest way to learn and train the moves.
