A few of my hot stamps
From right to left, first two are tree stamps, Gary my son made them, 3. one of my sunburst touchmarks, 4. bare foot print 5. ladybug 6. a small piece of a SS fork handle silver solderen on a bar, more pieces of handles in the foreground 7. a 1/4-20 bolt filed, it's in a threaded mild steel rod. 8 a hollowed out hammer stamp in a 1/4 bolt, I use carbide burrs to carve and hollow stamps, also files, hacksaw, jewlers saws and drills. A bunch of 1/4-20 bolts on the left with various designs. One is a allen bolt with filed edges it kinda looks like a sunburst. None of these have been hardened, only use these to mark hot steel. After a while the bolt ones may need to be freshened up.
Hot stamping in steel is like leatherwork only about 1700 degrees F hotter, grin, grin. __________________ Happy Hammering, wear safety glasses. Gene Chapman Oak and Iron Publishing www.oakandiron.com/ |

Trinkets,
mostly copper key ring medallions. I try to keep one of every product, but some are sent out when I get behind. each cat has a different mouth. Cat and dog faces and paw prints sell good. Sometimes I take different eye, mouth, and ear stamps to make some real "Uglies" just for grins.

I see, said the blindman. Must have had them morning eyes when I looked at them the first time. I knew it was a leaf when I saw it tonight with a ladybug on it...

Ray, I like the hotstamps that are recessed that give a raised effect when used, don't have many but they are nice in my opinion.

Gene,
The first few that I did were that way but I modified them so they would cut better but I'll be making more to do what you just said. Who knows where this journey will end up taking me. I'll try to get some picture today, was working on a forge/burner order yesterday and just got carried away..... |
