Got it working but

Finally have a working automatic. I still need to heat treat and finish but it definetely works. The only question I have is when I open the blade it slams into the stop pin. Feels and sounds terrible. Not much I can do about this one but is there a way to control the force with which it comes to a stop. I still want the speed on opening but a controlled stop would be nice.
Thanks
Steve

Ahhh heck thats one of the coolest things about a switchblade, that loud SNAP. Is it leaf or coil spring? You could peen it a lil tighter.

Its coil spring and made with screws. I can try tightening the pivot screw I guess.

Don't think you can weaken the spring so tightening it up may be your only option. It may calm down a little after it's broke in?

If it's a coil fired auto there are different sizes of coil springs you can buy that may tone down the snap. Jim

Coil spring autos have a different feel from leaf spring autos. With a coil, the blade is accelerating all the way until it stops. On leaf spring it strikes the blade, and from then it only carries blade inertia.

That's all I know. Keep at it and good luck.
