What are the scales made of?

I tried unsuccessfully to do that with silver on a DDR2. I think it would have looked fine and functioned well if I had done a better job of placing the holes. If the scales are strong enough to provide the funtionality of the bolsters, then it looks cool to me! I like the file work on the spine and the patterns on the scales.

That's one beautiful knife. I'd leave it the way it is. What's the handle material? Jim
