boot knife thickness?

How thick should a boot knife be. I recently made one that is just a hair over 1/4 inch thick but it almost feels to thin but then I have never worn a knife in my boot. Is there a concensus?
Thanks
Steve

Steve, I can't even imagine 1/4" thick steel in a boot knife. Generally, thinner is better.

Sorry Don I wasn't to clear. The total thickness including the bolsters is 1/4 inch.

That is thin, but might be just fine for a knife that is basically concealed.

That doesn't sound too bad. I use 1/8" stock and 1/8" bolsters, which I round, so mine are a tad under 1/4" thick, keeping in the spirit of a slim, lightweight, concealment knife.
