Bolsters
Does anybody out there solder their bolsters? Does it make sense to solder them? my current knife project has an 01 blade and it will have 416ss bolsters. I am wondering if it would be a good idea to solder them to prevent moisture from getting under the bolsters and causing rust, etc.

I've tried useing a low temperature paste and heating up the bolsters to the 400 degree +/- melting point, while keeping the blade cooled. Seemed to work OK, but I count on pins to hold the bolsters in place. not the solder. A good epoxy should accomplish the same sealing results, and be much easier.

J B Weld.....Little muss, no fuss, no blown heat treat. Terry Primos has a good tutorial on it.
