Spyderco black coating

Hi
I am soon to purchase a Spyderco Paramiltary after much mulling over different models. My only choice now is plain steel or black.
My question is how durable is the black coating? The knife will be subjected to moderate to heavy outdoor use.
Thanks
S

Thumbs up Black Coating

S

I have a coated fully serrated G-2 Police model which is about ten years old. It has had some pretty heavy use and was my main carry knife for a number of years. It was carried in my pocket along with coins and the coating is still pretty good.

The coating method has improved since this knife was made so should be even better. Some of the earlier Enduras and Delicas had serious problems with their coating! I have used a coated Perrin but not long enough for it to have any impact on the blade.

I hope that this helps.

Cheers, Ken
