An interesting version of the Statue of Liberty

Moved it over to imageshack vs direct posting.

Your photo link didn't open correctly for me. In case it doesn't for other people too, here is the image:

Wow!

I think I remember this in the memory bank, but what an incredible exercise. Not easy to coordinate!! Geez.

Got a year? Looks around WW1 era.

A quick search finds out that this was part of a series of live person photos done by Arthur s. Mole & John D. Thomas during WWI.

Here are some of the others:

Thanks for posting those, Jim. It sure does my heart good to see reminders of a time when this country was loved so dearly.

Trees? foliage? anything growing?

With that many troops moving around, no wonder nothing grew! 225,000 men in one picture? That is nearly a quarter of a million souls. Can you imagine the logistics in getting them in position for the photographer? I wonder if they had to build a tower in that flat land in order to elevate the photographer to enable that picture to be recorded? Seems to me that it was poor use of troops during wartime.

Sandy,
You mis-read the info in the photo... 22,500 men vs. 225,000. Regardless, a logistiscal nightmare.
