All-American lockback help

I have 5 kits of this knife and have built the first one. When I pened the pin for the blade it was not good. I used a spacer and 2 teflon washers included in the kit. When done the blade is now lose when open and too thight when closing, it does not close well and a little grindie in between!! What can I do with this? I also have 4 more to build and do not want to repeat this, at present the kinife is only good for some rellie who will never open it!! If I peen more it does not seem to change. I pened with the blade open. My spacer is a old spark plug gaper with a U notch cut in it to fit around the pin. I put it in from the top, this has worked for me before in the past.
Need help Cheers Ron.

have you tried a little oil at the pivot and work the blade manually? you may have used the wrong pin for the pivot and bent the pin. you also should have used the included shim stock for a spacer while peining the pivot pin. try the oil and see what happens.

Try some valve grinding paste, Auto Zone, along with the oil. That should loosen it up, but will depend on how many times you work the blade back and forth. You have probably not peened the joint correctly, tight at the bottom and loose at the top.
