Finally got one to post

I've posted some early attempts here, but this is one that kind of shows where my work is now. It's been about 18 months of practise, practise and more practise, but I think it is starting to get better now. Most of what I've been doing is smaller styles so this larger camp knife blade was a kick in the butt to do. Really enjoyed every step. Here's the vitals:
11 1/2" overall
6 1/2" blade
1084 steel, heat treated, edge quenched, 2 temper cycles, 600 satin finish
416SS guard, copper and nickel silver spacers
elk handle
copper and nickel silver butt cap
8/9 oz. vegtan sheath
All thoughts and critique really appreciated!
Rick

Rick,

Getting the hang of it? I'll say you have. Nice package. Is that a liner on the butt cap?

Really is nice work. I'd like one of those myself. I'll bet the guy that wanted to buy it was disappointed!

Steve

OK can't help it anymore..."Nice package" and "butt cap" may not belong in the same paragraph.

Steve,
The butt cap is black spacer, copper, black spacer and nickel silver. Used ss screws inset into the last plate then ground down smooth. After sanding and polishing, they virtually become invisable.

Great job

I say sell it, buy supplies and make 5 more keep your favorite and sell the other 4. That should keep you busy enough not to realize you sold it :-) You did a great job on it and the sheath
