G-10 finish
I purchased some course textured G-10 sheets from Knife kits. I am a little disappointed. I expected the material to have a more textured surface. One side is real smooth and polished. The other is a little textured but I guess I was looking for a little more texture. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can finish this but leave it more textured? I am looking for a finish like you may get in some ?factory? handles. I assume the regular G-10 is like Micarta and very smooth. My first thought was that I got the wrong G-10 but I think it just is not a course as I was hoping. Does any body have any suggestions?

You could finish it to a fine grit, then sand blast it to give it a matte grippy finish, or, file grooves into the material for a rough tactical look.

Sand blast works really well, as already suggested. Very easy too.

I've used a lot of G-10 and, as far as I know, it's all the same - slick and shiny with a very slight texture when you get it. It has more texture than most Micarta but if you want an even more textured surface then you have to do like Nathan said and sand blast it....

OK now I know how I will spend this weekend.
Any suggestions as to the type of sand? I have silica sand (very fine) and 80 grit glass beads. |

You can oly use what you have. Glass beads probably won't give you what you want, they're too soft. Use the sand. You can vary the finish by controlling how much air pressure you use ....
