i have a strange question
ive been looking at making a nice camp knife for my wife for some time now and have had the issue of not being able to match the hot pink digital camo kydex i wanna use with a handle material and was wondering if anyone has ever layered kydex and epoxed it in to scales simaliar to making linenmircata? if so how did it hold and should i even bother with this idea or would i be wasteing my time and money? thanks vic

I have tried Kydex on a handle and it does not stay on with just epoxy. Maybe if you use some bolt type of handle atachment.

yeah i was thinking of useing many layers and epoxy to build up scales and shape them down with bolts to hold it but i dont know if the epoxy will penetrate the kydex enough to hold it while shapeing the scales

The epoxy will not penetrate the kydex at all and the bolts will not hold the layers that are not under the bolt head. If its pink you want, look for other materials. I believe I saw some pink G-10 once and there are definitely some pink celluloid materials .....

Jantz has some pink recon stone scales and also some pink G10. Check all the usual suppliers like K&G, usaknifemakers, Sheffields, etc. Get a catalog from every supplier you can because it makes finding things like this and comparing prices very easy. All large knife suppliers advertise in Blade magazine so that's the best place to find places that offer specialty items like pink handle material.....

Jantz definitely had pink G10. I've got some sitting in storage as I type. They've got pink/black as well. Keep it clean when finishing and don't use any dark buffing compounds. White compound works well to finish.
