Heat Treating? - Ottawa, ON
Hi all,
So, I'm slowly progressing with my first knife. I'm all set for heat treating, but I don't have the equipment to do it myself. I'm not against mailing my knives away to get heat treated, but I've never done it before and was instead hoping to locate a facility or person near Ottawa, Ontario that provides the service. I'd be interested to know if anyone could help me out....or maybe provide me some information on whether this is something that is worth doing myself. Cheers |

First of all we will need to know what steel you used. It can make a big difference as to whether or not anyone has the equipment to help you out.

I used O1 tool steel.
I'm not in a big rush though. Winter is fast approaching and I don't have the facilities to work on my knives in the house. So, I figured I'd spend the last few weeks before the cold gets too oppressive making a few more knives. Then I can get them heat treated over the winter and likely finish them all off in the spring. |
