New Owen Wood Website

I have just launched my new website and invite anyone interested to visit at:

owenwoodknives.net

It was with some amazement that I discovered that the .com address com has already ben registered and that offers under $1000 would not even be considered.

I have to wonder who the owner is but he or she is hidden behind a domain name portfolio managegement company. How do you like that!

Thanks to all who take the time to visit.

Owen Wood

Hi Owen!

Welcome to KN! Very nice website. Looking forward to seeing you a the Big Sky Hammer In.

I know what you mean about someone basically stealing your name! I was away at a show when my domain name expired, and it was snapped up by some outfit in Taiwan. I've been trying to get it back for the past 5 years, and can't even get them to respond to emails or phone messages. I learned my lesson from that one, and registered just most of the domain names I could think of that would relate to me and what I do.
There seems to be a lot of modern day "pirates" out there when it comes to domain names!

Hi Ed,

Yup, Sure learned my lesson with this one. I now own a dozen domain names.

My gut feeling is that the pirate must be someone in the knife world - I have some one working on finding out who it is. We will see.

Thanks for the welcome! I too am looking forward to seeing you at the Big Sky.

Just like there were land speculators in the 1800's, there are domain name speculators. They register any and every domain name they can. If someone hopes to use it, they have to pay or come up with another name that hasn't been used already. Capitalism at its finest.

The exact thing happened to me and the jerk wanted $8,000 for my own domain name!
This should be against the law, its like scalping tickets to a big event.

Yes ...there are thousands of Domain buyer on web, many of them just keep spying to buy expired domain for low cost and to resell them at high price. I also suffered from such situation once.

I do visited your site and it looks great. Knives looks impressive, just wondering if you make any kitchen knives??
