ugly knife contest

Thanks to the one guy that voted for me. Second time I got a vote in the contests, even though it is a scan not a pic. I forgot to vote, but if I did, i would have voted for Shak. That pic was revolting! Ugh! Good job. I am kind of relieved I did not win, because this is a knife I made back in the early 80's. Sort of a kit, I bought the hunter/bowie blank at The Log Cabin. A muzzleloader shop in Lodi Ohio. The guard is a thin piece of brass and the stacked leather was cut from an old boot. I wanted to make the pomel from brass or aluminum but could not find a piece thick enough. While rumaging I found that tip off an old moose rack I had dragged home out of the trash. The first time I ever saw a Scagel I said: "HEY! That guy stole my idea". Of course now I just say, "HEY! Great minds think alike"

Hey it may be ugly, but it shore is hard to sharpen. It is just stuck together for the photo. My nephew and his buddy broke it in half throwing it, about three rings down the handle. Broke right across a pin hole. I plan to weld it and reharden and temper it sometime. Ahhh. I guess I'll add it to the list of 40 knife projects I started and never finished. Ever notice how much easier it is to just sit and click this mouse than it is to actually do anything? heehee.

Thanks for the nice comments Joe.

I agree with the opinion that the knife is ugly but the racoosik helps make it a great photo. Just wondering if anyone else noticed? .......Chuck
