Sorry Allan, I have not tried that camera but I'm sure one of the guys (or ladies) have. The nice thing about a forum is that we can have the input of several.
It might help us if you can say what you expect the camera to do. Are you wanting to make prints, internet use, or both?

a number of us use the earlier version Nikon put out. I use the 995 and the 4300 recently was $150 Can less than I paid for my camera 11 months ago. I think you will find it great for doing knife images.

It has a ton of bells and whistles but i use the darn thing on auto and I'm reasonably pleased with my images, many of which can be seen either here or in BF Gallery.

I just posted a couple of images in one of the threads by Stephen Vanderkolff which were done with my tent lighting and the Nikon 005

you will enjoy that camera. I use the camera on auto but with the lighting system I have talked about before. Lighting is very important --quantity, quality and direction. Backgrounds can be very important as they can affect exposure of the subject matter.

Hope you have fun.

Excellent choice. That camera has all the features and quality you'll need. Show us your work once you get a handle on it.
