Smile Bolo style camp knife

Hello all,

I have just finished up this custom order for a gentleman who I had met at a recent knife show.. We got to chatting and I showed him some of my work and placed an order about a week later.. After making this I do not want to give it up.. I love it and wish I could keep it for the next cut comp.. I guess I'll just have to make myself one (you all know how that goes )

Specs:
Forged 5160 (started from 1.25x.25" barstock), Edge quenched
OAL: 15"; Blade Length: ~10"; Blade width: ~ 2"
Guard/Pin/Thong Hole: Stainless Steel
Spacers: Nickel Silver and black vulcanized spacers
Handle wood: Mexican Cocobolo

The flat ground blade has a slight recurve, full distal taper, and convex edge. Balance point is at the front of the ricaso. This knife feels quick and light in the hand and chops wood like nobodys business..

The to be owner should see the pics monday morning.. I hope he likes it.. Let me know what you think.. All feedback will be appreciated.

Cheers,
Jerid

I can see why you don't want to let this one go -- that's one fine looking camper !! I'll bet that 5160 makes it sing

Very Nice!!! Yeah, I wouldn't want to give that one up either. I predict the new owner is going to be thrilled.

beautiful job, anyone would be proud to own this one . If I make a knife and it hurts to let it go,I can be pretty sure I did a good job on it.

Nice Jerid. I love big chopping blades - bolos, khukri.

My favorite carry knife in the woods is a big, front heavy chopper with flared handle for swinging. Made coarse, which I like since it sees some hard use.

Used it all last week camping with two of my sons on rough land in West Virgina. Poor thing saw some abuse. Had to regrind the edge yesterday.
