Here is the original sheath that was with the knife when I purchased it. I had Greg Gutcher make the exotic sheath for me after the fact. I thought the knife needed something better than the Johnson roughback. I had Don make the miniature for me, and he actually wished that he had the original in hand to make an even closer copy!

Thanks for the clarifications, Bill. I agree the knife needed a commensurate sheath. But I really don't see how Don could have made his mini any closer.

Thanks for showing us this very intricate work. It makes this "Smitty" a little less "intimidating".

Is the handle made of Rosewood?

Cheers!

David

I'm really not an expert on the various woods used for handles, but I would guess either Rosewood or Cocobolo.....

Here is my Tom Leschorn embellished Shaw-Leibowitz Special. This was done during his time living in Alaska....

Really nice, Bill! I tried checkering a rifle stock when I was in my twenties. I haven't tried it since! That gives you an idea of how my first attempt worked out. Talent is talent. You either have it or you don't. I love the salmon scrim.

This one was made while Tom was living in Alaska. He presented it to his neighbors son as a gift. The salmon kind of represents that part of the United States.....
